FAQ

Questions & answers

Honestly answered.

Does SanitizeMeta upload my files?

No. All processing happens entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device — not even for a millisecond. There is no server receiving them.

What metadata does SanitizeMeta remove?

GPS coordinates, device serial numbers, camera model, creation and modification timestamps, author name, copyright info, software fingerprints, XMP/Adobe data, IPTC news metadata, and PDF revision history.

Which file types are supported?

JPEG, HEIC, PNG, and PDF. HEIC files are automatically converted to clean JPEG during sanitization.

Is the free tier genuinely free?

Yes. Free lets you clean one file at a time with no account required. Pro adds batch processing, certificates, and multi-device sync.

What is a sanitization certificate?

A tamper-evident PDF record (Pro) that cryptographically logs which metadata was removed, when, and by which version of SanitizeMeta. Useful for legal filings, compliance, and audit trails.

Can I use SanitizeMeta without an account?

Yes. Sign-up is only needed for Pro. Free users can clean files anonymously forever.

How is my privacy score calculated?

The score reflects the number and severity of metadata fields found. A score of 100 means no detectable metadata. High-risk fields (GPS, device ID) deduct more than low-risk ones.

Can I cancel Pro anytime?

Yes. Cancel from your customer portal and you keep Pro access until the end of the billing period. No questions asked.
